God created June Bugs on the 5th day. Well…at least I thought I read that somewhere in Genesis. Anyway, the appearance of June Bugs signal the arrival of summer and all its activities. Picnics, vacations, various outdoor pursuits and just being lazy are all thoughts that creep into our minds. We want to “take a break”, “get away” and “chill out”. After all, we’ve worked hard with all the church activities of Christmas and Easter. School activities have also taken a toll on our energies. Wouldn’t it be nice if no one became ill, got lonely, became depressed or suffered a loss during the summer months? We could all be happy June Bugs flying around somebody’s porch light.

Unfortunately, there is always much that needs to be done and we need your help. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen 1 Peter 4:9-11

Using God’s gifts in service to others, the following activities were accomplished during May:

  • Hospital Visits - 51
  • Nursing Home / Assisted Living / Shut In Visits - 48
  • Cards sent to Sick / Shut-In / Bereaved for Caring - 23
  • Phone Calls to Sick / Shut Ins / Bereaved for Caring - 14
  • Cards, Letters, Phone Calls to Visitors - 7
  • Prayer Chain cards - 17

As the June Bug signals the arrival of Summer, hopefully our acts of kindness and service to others will signal the arrival of God’s healing hand. Using the gifts God has given us, we are instruments of His grace.

There is a shortage of folks to assist with nursing home and shut-in visitation. Any volunteers would be appreciated. Please contact Don Angersterin, Pastor Matocha or Intern Kristen.

God Bless You for Prayerfully Considering
