Announcements for September 2010:Help Keeping the Kitchen and Pantry StockedWhen you leave something in the kitchen pantry or refrigerator, please put your group’s name on it and date it. If it is not labeled, it is for anyone’s use. Then, don’t forget you left it there. Help us stay in compliance with the health department. Please check the pantry before you buy for your next event. Also, when you get items (coffee, sugar, creamer, etc.) out for your group to use; don’t forget to return it to the pantry at the end of the week. We have the hall booked for many different events and these items are not for public use. Bereavement Support GroupTo All Members of Trinity: A sincere expression of thanks goes to each and every member of the congregation who has helped with this group in any way. Your continued support in the past makes it possible for us to provide a meal (when needed) at the time of death of a Trinity member, spouse, parent or child of a member, if they reside in the Victoria area. The cash donations go toward the purchase of meats, prepared foods, paper goods, and other necessary supplies. Volunteers who prepare food are asked to furnish either sandwiches (1 loaf of bread to serve twelve people), a dessert, vegetable tray or fruit tray, bag of chips or deviled eggs. Each volunteer will normally be called on about once or twice a year. If you have not already volunteered, please fill out the form on the bottom of this sheet, and place it in the offering plate, mail it to the church office or call Pam at the church office at 361-573-4725; Virginia Berger at 361-575-4258; Donna Appelt at 361-578-9519; or Alice Reha at 361-573-4885. Those wishing to make a cash donation may place it in the offering plate or mail it to the church office with Bereavement marked on the envelope. Other ways to help would be to: prepare food, pick up and deliver food or help with serving when needed. Thanks again for all the support.
Prayer Shawls for the Living!Prayer shawls are given to anyone who is going through a difficult time in their life. It may be surgery, treatments, depression, or anything they have no control over and need to know that we care about them. The prayer shawl is a symbol of prayers from our congregation. We even give them to those who have served this congregation and have moved away. They take a part of Trinity with them. The members who create these shawls pray for whoever will receive it, they pray: "that it will be a mantle of protection, wholeness, strength, healing, and patience, and that it will encircle, enfold, and empower you. We pray that this shawl will warm and comfort you when you are weak and weary.” I was delighted to hear that when one of our members was in the hospital, awaiting surgery, she called Ida Mae Dold and asked that she bring her a prayer shawl because she was so cold! One of our members told me that when he was recuperating from heart surgery that he covered himself with the shawl when he was in his lounge chair. His only complaint - it wasn't long enough! You can pray with it - cover yourself - lay it in your lap - or at the end of your bed - whatever brings you comfort. Please avail yourself of this ministry. If you want to give one to someone, please do so - they are located in the acolyte room. Just write the name down in the book. The only report of names is given at our quarterly meetings, it is not published. Oh yes, you can give to anyone - does not have to be a member and you can take one for yourself. May God bless you with joy and peace as we pray for all our members and mends. Prayer Shawl Ministry New Schedule for 5 Sundays in a MonthThe Congregation Council has decided that on the months that have 5 Sundays, there will be no 8:00 a.m. worship service. They want to encourage everyone to attend the 10:30 a.m. worship service and attend the Pot-Luck luncheon in Luther Hall, immediately following that worship service. The council feels that this will bring together the congregation for fellowship, fun, and good food. Everyone is asked to provide one or more of their favorite dishes for the pot-luck luncheon. Church LibraryThe Church Library is now open on Sunday Mornings from 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. We have many good books and videos for adults and children. We invite you to come and check out our Library. Hope to see you soon.
Parking ChangesDue to our new Drive-thru entrance, some changes in our parking around the church are necessary. Please do not park anywhere the curb is painted yellow or red. The City of Victoria asked us to do this so northbound traffic (on DeLeon Street) is not interrupted when a number of cars are waiting to use the drive-thru. Also the traffic cones are still being used to provide parking for the handicapped. Thank you! Church Office HoursThe Church Office Hours are:
Email Prayer ChainPastor Barney mentioned a while back about "Knee Mail" or using our emails to participate in our church's prayer ministry. There are those of us who are not readily available for phone calls for our ongoing prayer chain and still would like to participate in our prayer ministry. If you would be interested in joining our email prayer chain, please let me know. Our Lord has given us the privilege of taking our concerns to Him in prayer. We've witnessed in our church the power those prayers hold. I hope you will consider adding the privilege of joining the prayer ministry at Trinity, either by calling Ida Mae Dold or contacting me via email.
Newsletter DeadlineReminder - The deadline for newsletter articles is the 2nd Friday of each month. Please bring your articles by the church office or email it to the office. Anyone Moving!?!Please notify the Church office if you are moving and have a new address. The church has to pay double postage for any items mailed and returned to us with an address correction. Lost & FoundThere are quite a few items in the "Lost & Found" basket located by the street-side doors in the educational building. There are several jewelry items along with clothing. Please check to see if any of your items have been found. There are also quite a few dishes that have been left in the kitchen in Luther Hall. If you provided a dish for an event and did not get your dish returned, please check in the kitchen. |
